Already dubbed “the perfect pop package” by teen press and mentioned in the same comparative breath as Conor Maynard, One Direction’s Niall Horan and global phenomenon Justin Bieber, it seems like 18-year-old Elyar Fox was always destined to be a popstar. With his debut single on the horizon and an album on the cards for 2014, it looks like the stars are about to align.

Born and bred in London, Elyar was barely school age when he used his pocket money to buy the first albums he ever owned - Nirvana’s ‘In Utero’ and ‘The Young & Hopeless’ by Good Charlotte. “I also loved Avril Lavigne and Eminem,” he recalls.

These early pop punk influences were to bleed into Elyar’s first musical endeavours; he taught himself to play guitar at the age of nine and began writing his own songs as soon as he had mastered the basics. “My mum got me a £20 guitar from Argos and that was all I needed,” he smiles. “To start with I was very embarrassing. I was just at that age where girls were beginning to be interesting to me, so that was all I wrote about – in my head I was a player.”
