JOEL BAKER SUPPORTS MCBUSTED 6 JULY
In his own words….
I grew up in a leafy part of Nottingham with my Mum, who was not that into music and my Dad; the big music lover and a Bob Dylan fanatic, to the point of mild obsession! He plays the piano, so from an early age I had piano lessons and learnt how music works. When leaving primary school I had a major shock to my system; going from a leafy lovely gentle primary school, to an inner city Secondary School in Aspley, Nottingham. I hated school, but just got on with it and it was there I began listening to hip hop – Wu Tang Clan mainly – which has ever since shaped my musical taste and creations. At the age of about 13, I picked up my Dad’s old guitar and tried it out.
This year has been crazy – the fact that in the day time I’ve been working in Parliament, and then off in the evenings in dingy studios in north London all night. I’ve been pretty much leading a double life but loving every single minute. .
