Your Responsible Event
With six nights of world class entertainment and new mid-week activities attracting hundreds of thousands of visitors, Barclaycard presents British Summer Time Hyde Park has a significant impact on the local community and the local and wider environment.
AEG’s aim as a responsible event organiser is to ensure communities have a positive experience and that we reduce our impact on the environment and surroundings, and stage a memorable world class event.
The following sections outline the key areas where we are working to maximise the ways in which our event can make a positive difference, while also reducing negative impacts on the environment and community.
OUR SUSTAINABILITY POLICY
Our Sustainability Policy (click here) outlines our key economic, social and environmental commitments and objectives in the development and execution of Barclaycard presents British Summer Time Hyde Park.
AEG has chosen The Royal Parks Foundation, the charity that helps support the London’s eight Royal Parks, as the official charity partner of Barclaycard presents British Summer Time Hyde Park.
AEG will raise £250,000 over the five years of the event contract with a variety of fundraising: from donations for guest tickets through to staff running The Royal Parks Half Marathon. AEG are focussing all our efforts into this one charity and are not considering any further charitable partnerships in the foreseeable future.
The first project AEG supported was to help The Royal Parks redevelop the South Carriage Drive playground in Hyde Park. The new is playground will be accessible to children with a wide variety of special needs and the design of the playground will be in keeping with the Hyde Park environment; both elements that fit in with AEG’s ambitions for the Barclaycard presents British Summer Time Hyde Park event.

COMMUNITY ENGAGEMENT & CUSTOMER SERVICES
AEG work year round alongside local stakeholders in planning Barclaycard presents British Summer Time Hyde Park and have installed a Community Impact Team to oversee and be the first point of on-site call for any resident concerns. The CIT are on hand during the build and dismantling of the site and throughout the event itself to target areas under pressure whether that is litter reporting, crowd flows or noise management.
AEG is proud to support young artists and works closely with Barclaycard Music Potential and the The Mayor of London's Fund for Young Musicians in order that emerging talent has the opportunity to perform at our event.
The Barclaycard present British Summer Time Hyde Park concert series will also be host to a number of Customer Service Hubs, whose staff are a source of event and travel information.
INCLUSIVITY & ACCESSIBILITY
AEG want to make sure that our programme is an invitation to everyone and that it engages all communities, including daily park users, tourists and local school children.
Barclaycard present British Summer Time Hyde Park will invest in resources that protect the Park, but ensure as much of the event space remain accessible during our residency.
There will be a programme of events during the free to enter mid-week period at British Summer Time which in previous years has included wellbeing & sports, music and dance, theatre & cinema and comedy. Many of these activities had no charge for participants. More information on about these events will be revealed nearer the event.
AEG have been working alongside Attitude is Everything, a charity promoting accessibility for deaf & disabled people at live music events and venues and were awarded a Silver Standard in the access audit in 2013, the highest award possible for a year one event.
PROTECTING THE PARK ECOLOGY AND WIDER ENVIRONMENT
As well as ensuring Hyde Park is accessible to park users, protecting the park's flora and fauna, grass, land water courses and landscape is also a priority. AEG will ensure that the necessary measures are in place to protect the Park and provide instructions to all contractors to help achieve this.
SUSTAINABLE PRODUCTS AND MATERIALS
AEG are committed to using sustainably sourced materials, equipment and products, with the aim of reducing travel miles, safeguarding the environment and welfare standards, and supporting the local economy.
